Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame Nomination Form
Recognizing and honoring Kentuckians who have made significant contributions to the fields of Aviation and Aerospace
Must be submitted by December 31 to be considered for the ballot for the following cycle.
From Matthew Sellers’ 1908 Carter County flight to Story Musgrave’s 1993 shuttle flight, to achievements being made today, Kentuckians have made essential contributions to aviation exploration and innovation. Chartered in 1994 by the Legislature as the Commonwealth’s official Aviation Hall of Fame, the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame was established to recognize and enshrine those Kentuckians (and those with close ties to Kentucky) who have made significant contributions to the fields of aviation and aerospace.
Eligibility Requirements
No person shall be eligible for nomination into the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame for achievements attained less than five years prior to their nomination. Only members of the Aviation Museum of Kentucky / The Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame may make nominations. If we do not have you listed as an active member, please consider joining. Nomination Procedure
Please complete the enclosed form and submit supporting documentation. Return nomination packages to Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame. We will file the information, but we strongly urge you to retain a copy of the submitted materials.
The KAHF Ballot Committee will determine which nominees will be placed on the Hall of Fame ballot. The nomination, review and election cycle begins a year in advance of enshrinement, so it can take up to 18 months, or more for a candidate to be considered.
In the spring of each year, ballots are sent to the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame Board of Nominations. In late spring, the Hall of Fame Committee announces that year’s Enshrinees. Nominees who are not elected remain on the ballot for future consideration. Nominees who do not attract a minimum number of votes in five consecutive cycles will may be removed from the ballot. With expanded information, they may be renominated.
Occasionally an individual elected by the Board of Nominations asks to postpone enshrinement. In that case, the honoree may be carried forward to the next year’s enshrinement. Decisions of the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame Committee are final.
After Enshrinees have been determined, preparations begin for the enshrinement dinner. The black-tie gala is held in early November; invitations are sent six to eight weeks in advance of the event.
Beside the submission form, please submit detailed one- page biography of the nominee. Nomination biographies longer than one page in length will not be accepted. Please use an 11 pt. font size at the minimum (larger if possible) and allow for a one-inch margin on the left side, top and bottom of the paper. This biography should include a summary of nominee’s achievements, including awards, decorations, honors, etc.
Please keep a copy of the completed nomination package for your records!

Helpful Hints
Enshrinement into the KAHF is an extremely prestigious accomplishment. Many distinguished air and space pioneers are currently on our nomination ballot. In order to make your nominee more competitive, please make your nomination as thorough, comprehensive, and documented as possible.
Possible areas to consider when developing your nomination package, but not limited to:
- Detailed summary of nominee's achievements
- National and international awards, decorations, honors, etc.
- When and where did the nominee make his or her personal significant contributions?
- How are the nominee' contributions being used today?
- What distinguishes the nominee from others in the same field?
- Any other facts that you feel are pertinent to your nominee's package, i.e. Biography books, magazines and articles, videos.
Generally, the more complete, documented, and thorough the nomination, the greater chance of being approved by the committee and of being selected. The candidate nomination package must be received by the KAHF on or before January 1st each year. Any nomination package received after the deadline will be considered the following year.
