Friday, May 3, 2024 – LEXINGTON, KY – The Aviation Museum of Kentucky has appointed Tina N. Nance, JD, as its new Museum Director. Nance brings over a decade of nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and legal experience to the role.
“We are thrilled to have Tina at the helm of the Aviation Museum,” said Ron McBride, Museum Chairman. “Her breadth of skills in fundraising, relationship-building, and strategic planning made her the perfect candidate to take this museum to new heights.”
Nance most recently served as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and Assistant Director of Regional Advancement at Transylvania University in Lexington. There, she managed a comprehensive development plan to expand the university’s relationships with foundations and corporations. She is also credited with having a proven track record as an “exceptionally effective fundraiser and brilliant, highly organized, and able to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.”
Prior to Transylvania, Nance spent more than ten years at the Governor’s Scholars Program Foundation, culminating as the Associate Director. She secured major gifts, managed the annual disbursement from the fund’s $3.4 million investment account, wrote grant proposals, and helped lead strategic planning efforts.
A graduate of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, Nance also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Transylvania. She has been recognized for her strong writing abilities and was a merit scholar.
“Museums play an important role in educating and inspiring communities,” said Nance. “I’m eager to work with our team, supporters, and partners to amplify the Aviation Museum’s impact through creative programming, fundraising, and relationship-building and to help expand the Museum’s education programs throughout the Commonwealth.”
