Aviation Summer Camp, an educational program of The Aviation Museum of Kentucky, will be conducted at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International airport on July 7 and 8, 2022. This is the first time an aviation camp has been held in northern Kentucky. The program is the primary education and community outreach endeavor of the Lexington-based Aviation Museum of Kentucky where camps began in 1996. The northern Kentucky camp is sponsored by the airport and will be conducted at the CVG Centre, 77 Comair Boulevard in Erlanger.
The summer camp is open to young people 10 to 17 years old. Full enrollment has been achieved for the two-day camp.
Campers are assigned to squadrons and consider aeronautics and navigation, and have sessions on flight simulators, space exploration, and the components of flight. Tours of selected airport facilities are scheduled and include air traffic control, airport fire and safety services, and maintenance operations for the large cargo aircraft flying from CVG.
