Frequently Asked Questions

May my 9 years old attend camp?
Campers should be 10 years old on the dates of camp and be a rising 5th Grader.
Campers must be 17 years old and not be older than 18 years old.

You may bring your child 15 minutes early.

You may be no more than 15 minutes late.

No.  All campers must bring their own lunches, drinks and snacks.  Water will be provided.

Two days of camp sessions will be from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm on Day 1 and Day 2. At 4:00 pm on Day 2, weather permitting, 9 campers can fly after signing up and registering for flights.

Flights for 24 campers are on day 3 of camp. You must register for flights. Flights are 1 ½ hours long.

The amount paid for flight registration will be refunded.

½ hour before the flight.

Once your child is on the flight, return to the museum 1 hour after the flight begins or you may remain in the museum.

In the lobby of The Aviation Museum of Kentucky.

Yes.  As long as someone can escort you to the tarmac, tarmac photos are allowed.  Other photos can be made from the observation area to the right of The Aviation Museum of Kentucky lobby.

Yes.  Friends need to register for the same flight.  Contact camps@aviationky.org and put in an email with the subject CAMP BUDDIES.  The names of both campers attending the same camp need to be included in the email.

No, but she needs to register for the returning camp sessions listed.  The New camper sessions will be very similar to prior years.

No, but water will be provided.

Yes, they may attend but will need a translator.  Translators will not be flying in the flight portion of camp.

Yes, an adult will need to sign the child in and out of camp.

Camps are in an airport hangar and an un air-conditioned aircraft.  Clothing should be comfortable, and shoes should be close toed.

Campers may have cell phones or emergencies, but they must turn it off during all sessions.  They will have a chance to text during lunch and breaks.

Yes.  Notify the camp director if they must administer the medication.

Refer to the camp refund policy in the registration process.  Refunds are not available if the camper only attends one day of camp.

Yes, they can attend camp.  The child must be tall enough to reach the rudder pedals.  Flight for some campers will be determined by weight and balance in the aircraft and will be decided by flight dispatch.  If campers are unable to fly due to these requirements, the flight portion of camp will be refunded.

No.  Payment is made on the camp registration link to The Aviation Museum of Kentucky website.
