Saturday, April 29, 2023

Lexington, KY – The Aviation Museum of Kentucky held an open house on April 29, 2023, for members of the Kentucky State House and Senate, Blue Grass Region mayor and Judge executives, as well as their families and staff. The event was a great success, with attendees learning about the museum’s history, programs, and education initiatives.

Museum Chairman Jim McCormick reviewed the museum’s history and programs during the event, including the Aviation Summer camp. The summer camp has been a great success, with more than 7500 students attending and many going on to have careers in aviation and aerospace. The program also features other educational initiatives to inspire students to explore aviation and aerospace careers.

McCormick also discussed the potential move of the museum to a new location at Bluegrass Airport and the need for community and public support. The museum is an essential part of the community, and the move would allow for even more growth and opportunities for education and inspiration.

“We were thrilled to host this open house for Kentucky public servants, their families, and staff,” said McCormick. “It was a great opportunity to showcase the museum’s programs and initiatives and discuss our future plans. We are grateful for the community’s support and look forward to continuing to inspire the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals.”
