Omer Broaddus

was a life-long Lexingtonian. His first flight activity was at Halley Field, Lexington, in 1936, and he was active at Cool Meadow Airport, Lexington. He was a flight instructor in the Certified Pilot Training Program, at Bowman Field, Louisville, 1939-42. Mr. Broaddus was a US Army Air Corps instructor in Jackson, Miss., 1942-45. He conducted weather observation (wind direction and velocity) in planning runway layout for Blue Grass Airport, 1942. As a corporate Pilot based in Lexington, Mr. Broaddus was single-, multi-engine land (SMEL) and instrument rated. In his career, Mr. Broaddus soloed 475 students. He was a Charter Member and former Trustee of the Aviation Museum of Kentucky in Lexington.
