Shawnee High School Magnet Career Academy's Aerospace/Aviation Travel/Tourism Aviation Program in Louisville is a four-year program offering specialized courses to help students develop the academic and technical skills necessary for further work and training in the aviation, aerospace, and travel and tourism industries.

The program follows guidelines established by the Federal Aviation Administration and the American Society of Travel Agents. Following coursework and exams, students can earn an FAA private pilot's license, an aircraft maintenance technology (AMT) certificate, or special certification in customer service.

In addition to studies related to air transportation, Shawnee offers a Marine Technology Magnet Program, a Navy JROTC Career Academy, and a Tech 2000 Lab and Expanded Careers Program. Shawnee offers the Honors Program, Extended School Services, and a Youth Services Center. All students are expected to complete three to four years of mathematics and science, and all parents are encouraged to become involved in School-Based Decision Making.

Shawnee's Aerospace/Aviation Program is recipient of the Charles A. "Chief" Anderson Award as the Outstanding Aviation Magnet in America.

For its role in developing and supporting aviation in Kentucky, Shawnee Magnet Career Academy is presented with the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame 2003 Aviation Achievement Award.
