Throughout the years, the success of The Aviation Museum of Kentucky can be credited to key moments in its history and work of dedicated people who shared in the vision of what the Museum could become. Two of those people will be honored tonight. Skip Gumbert married Dr. George Gumbert in 1954. A former flight attendant with Washington DC based Capital Airlines; she shared a love of aviation with her husband George, and was involved in the formation of the Kentucky Aviation History Roundtable, the predecessor to the Museum. Over the years, she did whatever job was needed to promote aviation and the Museum. Alice McCormick on the other hand was actually afraid to fly. She joined with her husband Jim to volunteer at the Museum on the day before it opened in 1995. Before long, she was completely enamored with the people and the things of flying. She soon put her heart and soul into all things AMK.
